Custom sofas
L-shapes, modular seating, majlis-scale sofas and curved pieces, built on kiln-dried hardwood frames in our own Al Quoz workshop — drawn to the wall they sit against, in the fabric or leather you chose from a physical sample, delivered in sections that fit your lift.
Showroom sofas come in standard lengths and standard depths for standard rooms. Dubai living rooms are rarely standard: a villa majlis that needs to seat a dozen, a tower apartment with a wall that is a hand longer than any sofa in the shop, an open-plan kitchen and living space where the back of the sofa is the only thing dividing them. The result is a piece that is nearly right, sitting in front of a TV wall and a curtain run that were designed for something else.
We draw the sofa on the same plan as the joinery. Length to the wall, depth to the way you sit, seat height to the coffee table, the return of the L on the side the room actually wants it. The frame is kiln-dried hardwood, doweled and glued, built by our own team and sprung and foamed to a density you chose by sitting on it. If the room is still being designed, the sofa is specified with the living room or the majlis rather than bought for it afterwards. If you already have a good frame, reupholstery runs through the same workshop.
What we make
Every shape below is made to the dimensions of your room, not adapted from a stock pattern.

Drawn to the wall length and the corner, with the chaise on the side that leaves the walkway clear.

Sofas, armchairs and ottomans made as one set so seat heights, arm profiles and fabrics agree.

Floor-level or sofa-height, sized to the guest count, with bolsters and loose cushions upholstered to match.

Deeper seats, harder-wearing fabrics and a finished back, because in an open plan the back is on show.

Bolt-together modules sized to the lift car and the door, assembled in the room. The only way a big sofa gets into a tower.

Curved frames, fluted backs and sculpted arms for reception areas and formal rooms. The most demanding pieces we make.

Guest-room daybeds, bay-window seats and sofa beds built on the same frames and fixed where the room needs it.

Reupholstery with new foam and springs, through the same workshop. We inspect and tell you if it is worth it.
How it is made
A custom sofa is a series of decisions. We make them with you in the room and in the workshop, and put each one on a drawing before it is built.
Book a measureWe measure the wall, the walkway, the distance to the coffee table and the TV, and the route in: lift car, stair turns, door widths. Then the brief: how many it must seat, whether people lie on it, how deep and how firm, which arm, whether the back is on show. For a majlis, how many guests on an ordinary evening and how many on Eid.
A plan and elevation showing overall length and depth, seat height and depth, back height, arm width and profile, cushion layout and leg detail, laid over the room plan so you can see what it clears. Nothing is cut until it is signed.
Fabric or leather is chosen from physical samples in the room, against the floor and the light, with advice on rub count, lightfastness and cleaning. Foam density and cushion type — foam, fibre-wrapped, or feather over foam — are chosen by sitting on them in the workshop, not from a description.
A kiln-dried hardwood frame is built, doweled and glued, then sprung with serpentine springs or webbing, foamed and upholstered by our own team in Al Quoz. You can visit to see the frame before it is covered. Each piece is inspected at the bench.
Delivered in modules where the access route demands it, bolted together and placed in the room by our fitters. On a fit-out project the sofa is programmed to arrive after the floor is finished and the curtains are up.

Specification & cost
Each sofa is quoted from its drawing and its fabric, with frame, fill, fabric and detailing listed separately. These are the decisions that move the number.
Length, depth and the number of modules set the timber, the springing and the bench hours. An L-shape is two frames; a curved sofa is a frame that has to be made in sections and faired.
We build kiln-dried hardwood frames, doweled and glued. It is the reason a sofa is still square years later and the reason it costs more than the board-frame pieces sold on the same street.
Serpentine springs or webbing, foam density, and whether cushions are foam, fibre-wrapped or feather over foam. Fill is the biggest difference between comfortable on day one and comfortable years later.
Fabric is priced by the metre and the quantity depends on the pattern repeat. A plain contract fabric and a large-repeat velvet are far apart on the same frame. Leather is costed by the hide.
Deep buttoning, channelling, fluting, piping, contrast welts and turned or metal legs each add bench time. A plain tight-back is the simplest to make well.
Modular construction for a tower apartment adds bolting hardware and assembly on site. It is the only way a large sofa gets into a lift, and we design for it from the start rather than discovering it on delivery day.
Send a photo of the room and the length of the wall. We will visit, measure, bring fabric samples, and come back with a drawing and a price for the sofa you actually want rather than the nearest one in stock.
Common questions
Sizing, comfort, fabrics and getting it into the building. If yours is not here, call +971 50 448 3095.
Yes. That is the point of a custom sofa. We measure the wall and the clearances around it — the walkway, the coffee table, the door swing, the curtain stack — and draw the sofa to fit them. Length, depth, seat height, back height and arm width are all set on the drawing rather than chosen from a size list.
By sitting on it. We keep foam of different densities and cushion builds in the workshop and ask you to try them before anything is ordered. Firmness depends on how you use the sofa: a formal majlis where people sit upright wants a firmer, higher seat; a family room where people lie down wants a deeper, softer one. A description of “medium” means nothing; the foam does.
We measure the lift car, the lobby turns and the apartment door at the first visit, and design the sofa in modules that pass through them and bolt together in the room. This is standard for tower apartments in Downtown, Marina, JLT and JVC and is decided on the drawing, not on delivery day.
Consider sun, air conditioning and use. A sofa facing a window needs a fabric with a good lightfastness rating or it fades on one side. A family sofa needs a high rub count and a cleanable face; performance fabrics are worth it with children or pets. Natural fibres in constant air conditioning can dry and shrink slightly, so we advise on linings and blends. We bring samples to the room and rule out what will not last.
Yes, floor-level or sofa-height, sized to the room and to the number of guests you host on an ordinary evening and on an occasion. Bolsters, arm cushions and loose back cushions are made with it, and the fabric can be coordinated with the curtains and the wall panelling if we are doing the majlis interior as well.
That is the advantage of one workshop. The sofa is drawn on the same plan as the TV wall and the shelving, so its length, back height and fabric are chosen against the veneer and the stone rather than matched approximately afterwards. If we are designing the living room, the sofa is specified with it.
Yes, and it is better to order them with the sofa so seat heights, arm profiles, legs and fabric batches agree. Fabric from a different dye lot ordered months later rarely matches exactly.
Three things. It is the size of your room, not the nearest stock size. You chose the frame, the fill and the fabric separately, and saw them, rather than accepting whatever is inside a finished piece. And it was made by people you can visit in Al Quoz, who will also reupholster it in years to come when you want a new fabric rather than a new sofa.
Yes. We deliver and place across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The apartment at Lamar in Abu Dhabi was furnished from the Al Quoz workshop.
